Description:

Under the supervision of a Mental Health Program Director, program coordinator will organize and participate within a clinical team assessing and arranging treatment services for older adults with mental illness or intellectual/developmental disabilities. OBRA (Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1987) is a federally-mandated assessment process for people with mental health or developmental disabilities who are entering or residing in a nursing home. Program coordinator must have strong clinical assessment skills with the older adult population and understanding of the OBRA process regarding nursing home placement and treatment services. Individual must have strong leadership skills; excellent clinical skills with geriatric population; attention to timeliness and organization; ability to collaborate well with state agencies and local nursing home staff; and ability to monitor outcomes effectively.

Duties:

Regular full-time position will complete psychosocial assessments and organize multi-disciplinary team members in response to referrals from local hospitals and nursing homes in accordance with federal time frames. Individual must have skillset to engage older adults and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in social work with Michigan licensure as LMSW. Three years experience with providing service to people with serious mental illness and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. Experience with and understanding of OBRA program highly preferred. Experience in completing clinical assessments required. Supervisory experience preferred. Relationship building skills with and appreciation for older adults. Strong organizational skills required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years in providing clinical assessment/treatment to people with serious mental illness, preferably in a community mental health setting. Prior supervisory experience is valuable. Prior experience with older adults and OBRA program highly preferred. Experience in working with electronic medical records required. Ability to work as part of a team of professionals in a public mental health setting and in a host setting required.
