Impact

The School of Social Work's Office of Development and Alumni Relations works with alumni and friends of the school to create a thriving community that supports social work students and education at Wayne State through advocacy, volunteerism, mentorship and giving.

Social workers understand the importance of individuals giving back to their communities. This understanding is evident by the thousands of donated scholarship dollars from our many alumni and friends awarded to deserving students each year. We are humbled and appreciative of every gift from these amazing people who are making a difference in their communities and giving back in support of their alma mater.

The School of Social Work is eager to continue its tradition of excellence in social work education, practice, training, research and scholarship as it brings together faculty, staff and students to address complex problems, promote social justice and foster overall well-being through engaged teaching, research and partnership within an urban and global context.

The School of Social Work aims to provide every student with access to the tools and resources they need to launch fulfilling, impactful careers. Access to resources and financial support is critical for many students as they strive to earn their degrees. Approximately 84 percent of Wayne State students rely on some form of financial aid, which is why the support of alumni, faculty and friends makes such a tremendous impact.
